What is TradeNet?

TradeNet operates as a ‘trade exchange’ and has transformed traditional trade into a modern business tool. Accessible online TradeNet has created a flexible, secure and fully accountable way for businesses to-trade their goods and services with other businesses in the directory. TradeNet facilitates the transaction between members.  

Why Trade?

When you trade your goods or services, you are creating a sale and effectively buying at your own cost of goods. To put it simply, if a business owner had a choice to pay for an expense for $1,000 he is much better off providing revenue generated from his business than paying the $1,000 in cash.

Who is behind TradeNet?

TradeNet is a division of Jim’s group. The largest and most successful franchise group in Australia.  

What is a Trade Dollar?

A Trade dollar is the term for the internal currency.

Why would I accept Trade instead of cash?

Companies join TradeNet to fill in downtime or move excess capacity. Trade is not designed to replace cash. It is designed to bring you new clients to do business with to reduce your cash expenses.

What can I sell through TradeNet?

You can sell almost anything through TradeNet with basic exceptions to Drugs and Firearms. What you Trade with is entirely up to you!

How does a Transaction work?

A TradeNet transaction is a similar process to online banking. Simply log into your account, Enter the correct member details of who you wish to pay then follow the prompts to complete the transaction.

Do Trade dollars expire?

No. Trade Dollars are there to be used whenever a client needs access.  

Can I apply for an Overdraft?

Overdrafts are available at no extra cost for businesses with a good credit rating. 
Apply online.

How to invoice a trade transaction?

Invoice a trade transaction exactly like a cash transaction. Ensure to write that the payment is to be received in trade dollars. Write down your TradeNet membership number on the invoice so it eases the buyer’s process of paying over the TradeNet system.

What is the tax treatment of trade transactions?

How do I Login?

Go to www.jimstradenet.com and select the Login tab. Enter the email address you used in your application. Enter the password you have chosen and click “Log in” box

How do I reset my Password?

Go to member.jimstradenet.com and select the Login tab. Press ‘Forgot password’ in the left hand corner or use this link. Enter your email address connected to your TradeNet account as indicated and click on “Reset Password”. A temporary password will be sent to your email address. Follow the prompts and change your password.

How do I change my Upper Limit?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “My Account” on the left hand side of the screen. Scroll down to “Trading Status” and click on the “Upper Limit” dollar amount which is highlighted in blue, then wait for a pop-up box to appear. In the empty field, change your upper limit to the desired amount and click on the “change my upper limit” box. Remember your upper limit is how much business you are willing to receive in Trade dollars. Once you hit your upper limit you disappear from the directory until your spending reduces that amount. We recommend that you have your initial upper limit three times the amount of your average business sale or whatever you feel comfortable with.

How do I edit my Account Details?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “My Account” on the left hand side of the screen. Scroll down to “User Info” and click on the “Edit User Info” box. Once the pop-up box has appeared, edit the information you want to change, making sure to check changes and then save.

How do I edit my Business Details?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “My Account” on the left hand side of the screen. Scroll down the page until you get to “Business Details”. Click on “Details” and wait for the pop-up box to appear. You can then make any desired changes. Remember that people find you in the Directory by the Goods and Services that you tag your business under so make sure these are correct. Fill out your business details including both mobile or site based description. This description can include pricing in Trade dollars and extra detail on the services or goods you provide. Make sure to double-check all the information is correct and then save the changes.

How do I use the Directory function?

Login using your username and password. Go to the top bar and click on the “Directory” tab. Enter in the search bar the business type or name you require. For example this could be “Accounting “. Enter the location you would like the goods and services to be found in. Click on “Search”. Once the results populate, you can adjust the search radius. Look at the results and pick a TradeNet provider to get in contact with that offers those goods or services.

How do I use the Find Customer function?

Login using your username and password. Go to the top bar and click on the “Find Customers” tab. Choose from the drop down bar the goods or services you offer. For example this could be “Printing”. Enter the location you would like your customers to be in. Click on “Search”. Once the results populate, you may adjust the search radius. From the list of results, you can contact the individuals and offer your services. You can then contact those TradeNet members by email or phone. Don’t forget to mention you are a member of Jim’s TradeNet.

How do I pay another TradeNet member?

Login using your username and password. Go to the top bar and click on the “Pay Trader” tab. Search for the TradeNet member you are paying by their account ID or by business name. If you have used their services previously their business name will come up in your past suppliers. You can choose from this list or search manually. Once you have found them, confirm their details in the “Selected Business” pop-up box. In the amount to pay enter the amount that you owe. In the transaction reference, put the description of the transaction which could include an invoice number. Don’t forget to rate the transaction and write a review. These ratings and comments come up on the payee’s account. You can see reviews on the “Reviews” page which is in the Member’s Area Home. If you do not have enough Trade dollars in your account the transaction will not go through. You can apply for an overdraft or wait to earn more Trade dollars. If the payee does not have an Upper Limit which is high enough the transaction will not go through. Please negotiate with the payee on new terms.

Where do I find my Account Statement?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “Account Statement”. Click on a month to view the details. The account statements display both purchases and sales. You can download these account statements and keep them for your own reference.

How do I view my past transactions?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “$Transactions” and select. Once in your transactions, you can view both purchases and sales. You can filter by supplier. You can also export transaction data to an Excel file. You can view month by month transactions on your account statement.

What is the tax treatment of trade transactions?

  • Talk to your accountant for further about Trade Exchanges and the tax treatment of trade sales and purchases.

How do I apply for an overdraft?

  • Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “My Account”. Scroll down the page until you get to “Trading Status”. Click on “Overdraft” and wait for the box to pop-up. Click on the field “Increase your overdraft”. Fill in the rest of the form accordingly. Enter your business details, two credit references, additional information and consents and the amount you are applying for. Please provide two proofs of ID, this can include your driving license or working with children check. Once you submit the request the TradeNet team will overview the request and let you know the result within two working days.   • Please keep in mind that you have to pay a third of your overdraft back every three months

How do I view the fees I owe?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “Tradenet Fees” and click. You can then view your fees. On this page you are able to see what fees you have paid/not paid and what fees are overdue etc. You are able to pay for them through this area.

How do I pay for my fees?

Login using your username and password. Go to the Member’s Area Home. Scroll down to “TradeNet Fees” and click. You can then view all the fees on your account. You can check and uncheck the fees you do or do not want to pay. Click “Pay my fees with secure online payment”. Once the form appears fill out all the fields and press “next”.

Who do I contact if I am having a problem with TradeNet?

  • You can use our “Contact us” page to get in contact with the TradeNet team. Fill out the contact form with your details and enquiry and we will get back to you within a day.

  • You can phone us on 1300 732 649.

How do I purchase a gift certificate?

  • Once you have found the business you wish to purchase the Gift Certificate from in the business directory, you click on 'Purchase Gift Certificate'. Fill in the details and click purchase. You will then be given a link to the generated Gift Certificate that you can print as well as an email you can forward to the recipient.

How do I redeem a gift certificate?

  • You can go to the redeem page (or alternatvely to home click the link to Gift Certificate). From there enter the gift certificate number and click redeem.

How do choose if I want to allow gift certificates or not?

  • On My Account page, click on 'Edit User Info'. Toggle 'Allow issue of Gift Certificates' as needed.

How do change my gift certificate conditions?

  • On My Account page, next to Gift Certificate Conditions, click Edit and update the conditions.
